Michael's Bio

As a youngster I played electric bass in bands, later earning a doctorate in double bass performance and becoming a full time bassist with the Florida Philharmonic Orchestra. These days I teach bass at the University of Arkansas and my Home Studio in Rogers, Arkansas. If you are interested in studying privately with a bass teacher, please contact me about bass lessons. (Because of the Covid quartine, both of us teach remotely online through Skype these days.)

Lourdes' Bio

Born in Havana, Cuba, Lourdes Montgomery came to the US at the age of five. Lourdes studied classical and jazz piano at Miami-Dade Community College and later devoted herself to the study of music theory, music composition and classical piano at the University of Miami.

As an OCP composer, Lourdes has two collections of liturgical music. Her debut, De la Cruz a la Gloria (From the Cross to Glory), offers Spanish-language music for Lent and Easter, from Ash Wednesday to Pentecost. Her latest release, Blessed Be the Name of the Lord/Bendito Sea el Nombre del Señor, provides bilingual psalm settings for seasons throughout the year. In 2008, her song “Bienaventurados” was performed at a Mass celebrated by Pope Benedict XVI in Washington, DC.

Lourdes's extensive experience as a pastoral musician makes her an excellent leader of workshops for Hispanic and bilingual parish communities. She has done presentations at both the national and international levels. One highlight was providing formational workshops in the Dominican Republic in 2005.

Since 2005, Lourdes has been the music director at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Rogers, Arkansas, where she lives with her husband and son.
