Visiting Chamois, Missouri, on June 8, 2009, I found that my great-grandmother Caroline Giesing Heying's parents were buried in St. Mary's first cemetary, the Shelly-Geising Cemetary, just east of Chamois, Missouri, in the late 1800s: Theodora in 1887, Wilhelm in 1889. The cemetary has fallen in disrepair and in fact we were unable to get to it on the rutted dirt road leading to it from highway 100 just east of Chamois. |
